Take Pride Tuesday: Trying Something New

If you want something you’ve never had, then you've got to do something you’ve never done. Stepping out of your comfort zone and trying new things is the best way to grow.

Amy is from Long Island, NY and has lived in Astoria for 4 years. She has a media background and currently works as a Creative Producer for Mic.com, where she helps concept video series for the branded content team.

Amy's always been active, but last winter made her feel like she needed to change her routine up a bit. She never really lifted heavy weights before, sticking mostly to cardio, so the new challenge motivated Amy to join Iron Lion. She didn't come with any specific goals other than to improve a little bit each time she worked out.

For Amy, working out helps her feel better day-to-day and she enjoys challenging herself to try new things. When asked about her ILP experience so far, Amy says "I love my time at Iron Lion - the trainers motivate me to be consistent and the sense of community makes it fun! I am achieving goals and personal bests that I never would have thought possible, so I am excited to see where I am in another year!"

The video shown below is Amy crushing 185lbs, and now Amy’s new goal is to deadlift 200lbs.

Don’t expect to see a change if you don’t make one.  If you are in your comfort zone, you are still in your warm up and won't experience anything new. Focus on small wins and focus on what is in front of you; eventually you will be ready to venture out and be ready for your next challenge. When the time comes, the Iron Lion community will be there to help you!
